Join us in recognizing students, faculty, and staff from the UCSD community and beyond for their extraordinary contributions and achievements toward African and African-American studies.  The evening will include a three-course dinner and dessert, dance and musical performances, and a keynote lecture by Dr. George Lipsitz, University of California Santa Barbara, on “The Afro-Diasporic Imagination: Decorating the Way to Other Worlds”.

War Witch Film Screening & Discussion

Come join our film screening of War Witch and panel discussion!


This 2012 film directed by Kim Nguyen deals with the dilemmas of a twelve-year-old girl who is forced to become a child soldier in Congo (DRC). A panel led by Provost Ivan Evans and the AAASRC Board will discuss the film. Running Time for the Film: 90 minutes. This event is open to the campus community and the general public.
